Josh's construction career started early — building semi-custom homes in Kansas before spending years in oilfield construction. After leaving the oilfield, he kept his tools busy as a handyman, and his business stayed booked for over a year on word of mouth alone.
When customers started asking for larger projects, Josh did what most won't — he went back to school, earned his California General Contractor's license, and built JMilam Construction Services from the ground up. Today, JMilam is a family-owned operation with a crew of 10, taking on complete home remodels, kitchens, bathrooms, and full backyard renovations across Kern County.

This was a late 1960s home in San Diego that we pretty much rebuilt from the inside out. The homeowner wanted the entire footprint of the house changed — room layouts, the living room, all of it. We gutted the whole place down to the studs. All the tile was torn out, popcorn ceilings removed throughout, and the original galvanized plumbing had to be completely redone because the main line into the house was corroded. She wanted the master bathroom completely torn down and extended, so we restructured that entire section. It was a true ground-up transformation — new plumbing, new layout, new finishes — and the home came out looking nothing like where we started.
